“Tango and Opera” in Austria: August, 1 - 5, 2012
with Enrique Grahl and Judita Zapatero

Intensive Tango workshops with Enrique and Judita in the Bregenzerwald – located in the majestic mountains of the Northern Limestone Alps.
In combination with the famous Opera Festival at Bregenz, Lake Constance.

Enjoy a relaxing and intensive “Tango Retreat” in Bizau, which is part of the natural forest area known as the Bregenzerwald in Austria.  It is pleasantly traditional, surrounded by enchanting nature, with a vibrant cultural scene full of surprises, such as, the Bodensee-Vorarlberg, the region in the western most part of Austria.  The Bregenzerwald region is truly a paradise for all those who appreciate nature, authenticity and tradition combined with modern elements.
Coupled with Tango, this provides for an unforgettable holiday.

During these unforgettable Tango days in Bizau, Enrique and Judita will give group lessons
(12 hours in total) for medium and advanced dance level.
As dancers, Enrique and Judita unite tradition with innovative elements of Argentine Tango. In close embrace, they allow the music itself to dance through elegance and harmonious teamwork. They enjoyed a solid tango education in Buenos Aires with the great masters of the Tango. Here, in the font and home of Tango, they developed their substantial technique and liquid movements. With excellent didactic skills, they will capture your imagination with their harmonious, elegant and playful body language. Their skills illustrate the sensual traditional tango, the Tango de Salon. Enrique and Judita will teach in german language, but also in english or spanish.

We will stay in Bizau, a cozy small village in Bregenzerwald, a 45-minute drive from Bregenz, Lake Constance. Our hotel, the “Schwanen”, is famous for its high standard in the art of fine cuisine. As the recipient of 14 Gault Millau Points, a very prestigious award, they create extraordinary dishes while still maintaining a health conscious menu of culinary delights. Adhering to the criteria of the Hildegard von Bingen kitchen they focus on the fresh products of that region. It is truly possible to relax and enjoy the friendly atmosphere of this family-owned house.  Various categories of contemporary room choices are available –“Schwanen I and Schwanen II” or “Traditional”.

Tango and Opera - see the Bregenz Festival:
Friday evening we will visit the world famous Bregenz Opera Festival at Lake Constance.
The Opera “André Chenier” will be shown in 2012. The most famous work by the Italian composer Umberto Giordano is a brilliantly vivid historical drama and a human tragedy of shattering intensity. Set against the background of the French Revolution, the opera has strong appeal both as a passionate love story and as a historical thriller. “André Chenier”is based on the life of a real historical character, a French poet who got caught up in the turmoil of the French Revolution, first as an ardent supporter and then as a victim, mercilessly persecuted and ultimately sent to the guillotine. Giordano’s music is charged with a furious enthusiasm and stirring emotions. Historical dances and marches from the time before the French Revolution can be heard in the opera as well as classic Revolutionary songs including "Ça ira" and the Marseillaise.
The special ambiance and atmosphere makes that visit to the Opera Festival at the lake unforgettable.
